Despite isolation protocols due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Delta police are still removing impaired drivers from local roadways.

On its Facebook page Monday, DPD said, “As we all learn to adjust and reconfigure to our new reality, we want to ensure that the public is aware that there are still drivers who are choosing to get behind the wheel of a vehicle while impaired.

“For the past two months we have been updating our followers on how many impaired drivers our officers have taken off the street over a weekend. We have decided to change this up for now – as weekends don’t have quite the same meaning anymore, and update you on the number of impaired drivers our officers are taking off the street weekly.

“This virtual ‘happy hour’ or ‘virtual drinks with friends’ is a nice trend, but just make sure you don’t follow it up with a quick drive to the supermarket to see if toilet paper is in stock yet.
