BCCDC's update on Delta COVID-19 numbers

The B.C. Centre for Disease Control has released its latest municipal-level data on how many people had been diagnosed with COVID-19 in their local communities. The numbers, which came out this week, include the month of September.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 6,517 cases of COVID-19 in the Fraser Health region. Delta has been at the lower end compared to other communities but the city's number of cases continues to rise.

The B.C. Centre for Disease Control has released its latest municipal-level data on how many people had been diagnosed with COVID-19 in their local communities.

The numbers, which came out this week, include the month of September.

According to the BCCDC, there were 207 cases confirmed in Delta since the start of the pandemic, but the number isn’t broken down to the individual communities of Ladner, Tsawwassen or North Delta.

Last month’s update had 101 cases overall confirmed in Delta.

The latest numbers indicate another massive uptick region-wide with Surrey at 1,814 confirmed cases, up from the 1,005 confirmed cases last month.

Vancouver, meanwhile, is broken down by neighbourhoods, and the latest tally in that city had it at 2,407 cases. Last month’s update had Vancouver at 1,325 cases.

The Ministry of Health on Wednesday reported 203 new cases in B.C., including three epi-linked cases, and that there are 1,766 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

The ministry also noted 4,294 people are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases.

Currently, 70 people are hospitalized, 21 of whom are in intensive care.

As far as what’s happening at Delta Hospital, according to Fraser Health, in total there have been 26 staff and 19 patient cases associated with the facility’s COVID-19 outbreak.

There have also been seven deaths at the facility.
