A body found in the parking garage of a Vancouver cinema has been identified by police as Mathieu Flynn, 31, of Richmond.

A passerby found Flynn dead in a vehicle in the Marine Drive Gateway Cineplex parking garage, near SW Marine Drive and Cambie Street, just before 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

“This incident happened in a very public, busy area,” said Const. Tania Visintin with the Vancouver Police Department (VPD).

“We believe several people may have video from their vehicle or information that could help detectives solve this homicide.”

Investigators don’t believe there is a risk to the public, according to the VPD. No arrests have been made.

Flynn is the victim of Vancouver’s second homicide of the year.

Police are asking anyone with dashcam video, who were inside the parking garage at 452 SW Marine Drive between 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, to contact homicide detectives at 604-717-2500.
