Delta police are reporting an increase in Immediate Roadside Prohibitions (IRPs) this week.
DPD said this week all six drivers received 90-day IRP notices.
“What does that mean? In addition to the various fines that they will pay, they are unable to drive for 90 days, and their car is impounded for 30 days,” said DPD in a post on their Facebook page. “We are often asked how our officers are aware that these impaired drivers are on our roads. Sometimes concerned citizens call 9-1-1 to report a possible impaired driver, sometimes our officers see an impaired person leave a liquor establishment and get behind the wheel of their vehicle, or, like this week, a driver driving the wrong way out of the ferry terminal is a cause for concern.
