They’ve begun hiring for hundreds of jobs close to home.

Amazon has confirmed it’s just begun the hiring process for hundreds of full-time, permanent roles to help pick, pack and ship customer orders at a new fulfillment centre at the Tsawwassen First Nation.

A spokesperson said they don’t have a more specific time yet when the new centre will be finished and operational, but they typically begin operations one to two months after hiring commences.

The e-commerce giant last September announced its plan to open the 450,000-square-foot fulfillment centre at the new Delta iPort warehouse on 41B Street on TFN industrial lands.

Located across the street from the new Canada Border Services Agency’s container inspection facility, the centre is to create almost 800 jobs.

Amazon says that across Canada it has already created more than 6,000 full-time jobs. Amazon says it provides employees with highly-competitive pay, benefits, a group RRSP plan and company stock.

Interested candidates must be at least 18 and have a high school diploma or equivalent. They can apply at www.amazon.com/vancouverjobs.
