English Bluff rescue

Delta police, Delta fire and a group of students are all being credited for helping to rescue an eight-year-old girl stuck in the mud off English Bluff in low tide early Saturday night.

In a post on his Facebook page Saturday night, police Chief Neil Dubord gave praise to the officers, firefighters and students who called 9-1-1 which initiated the call-out by first responders to the scene.

“Our @deltapd members went out in the mud and started digging the young girl out when @dff1763 arrived to assist,” said Dubord. “Together DPD and DFD members were successful in extricating the youngster before the tide rolled back in. No injuries sustained by anyone. Some new equipment will be required!!! #teamwork #proudchief #servethecommunity.”

The Optimistwill have more on this story following the long weekend when we can talk further with police and fire.
