The City of Delta says there is no concerns or risks to members of the public following the confirmation that two employees of the Delta fire department have tested positive for COVID-19.

In an emailed statement to the Optimist Wednesday afternoon, City Manager Sean McGill said Delta Fire and Emergency Services received notice that two of its employees have recently tested positive for COVID-19 due to exposures that occurred outside of the workplace.

“Public Health, working closely with our Human Resources Department has provided direction on exposures and based on their assessment there have been no concerns/risks identified to members of the public,” said McGill. “All Fire employees that were deemed to have had close contact have been tested and as warranted are self-isolating. Delta Fire and Emergency Services continues to operate at regular levels with remaining staff and as such there has been no impact on service to the public.”
