It all started with a post on a popular local social media site and Nicole McGuire has never looked back.

The Ladner photographer has released her second 16-month calendar “Sharing Ladner’s Beauty” that features her best work from roughly 40,000 images shot throughout the year in her hometown. Her inaugural calendar “Heron’s Landing” sold about 300 copies and this edition is on a much brisker pace with the holiday season looming.

“This one is a much higher quality. I am learning and having a great time doing this,” said McGuire. “I do find it difficult of what photographs to use. I come up with more ideas as time goes on.”

McGuire has always had a passion for photography but it’s only been the last couple of years she has pursued it beyond a part-time hobby. That came after she posted one of her shots on the Ladner’s Landing Facebook Group.

“I was quite nervous to do it but the response was unbelievable in encouragement,” McGuire added. “People were so genuine and that’s how it started. There is something about Ladner that everybody just loves. I think if I moved to Richmond or Langley none of this never would have happened.”

Localz Café is currently showcasing some of McGuire’s best work. Her framed photos are also available for purchase at the Country Lane Gallery.

The $20 calendars are now on sale at Localz and the Superior Fish Market. They also can be purchased through McGuire’s website www.sharingladnersbeauty.cawith free delivery to Ladner and Tsawwassen.
