The music of the ’50s and ’60s is coming to Ladner with the Relive the Music rock ‘n’ roll show at Genesis Theatre.

A brand new, one-of-a-kind show that takes the audience through music history, trivia and memories of the ’50s and ’60s is coming to Ladner.

Relive the Music rock ‘n’ roll show is set for Saturday, Jan. 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Genesis Theatre. The concert is re-scheduled from a date in October.

Audiences will see an energetic live band, singers and dancers re-living two decades of music, costumes and trends, including hits by Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra, Patsy Cline, Chuck Berry, Roy Orbison, The Supremes, Neil Diamond and more.

Steve Marshall, the creator, producer and drummer in the show, came up with the idea more than 25 years ago, but never followed through until last year when he committed by booking three shows as theatres on Vancouver Island.

Marshall and his musical family (all performers in the show) worked endlessly to make it happen.

“My daughter Kimi is our guitar player, my youngest daughter Zenia is one of the main singers, my wife Luisa is a world renowned (been on Oprah and Ellen) Tina Turner tribute artist who stars as many artists in this show. I’m the drummer and my sister-in-law is also one of the main singers,” Marshall said.

Audiences have described the show as a rock opera musical concert with a Broadway feel.

“What also makes this show different is a voiceover tells trivia before the song starts without telling the name of the artist,” said Marshall. “Then the audience has a few seconds to yell out the name they think it may be. Then the party begins.

“I have never seen so many baby boomers and older folks so happy. It brought back many memories for all and a lot of people comment they didn’t know the history. The music never did go away. It changed the way we think, dress, dance and it brings us together 70 years later.”

Tickets bought for the earlier show in October are still valid. Those who would like a refund can call Brown Paper tickets at 1-800-838-3006.
