Editor:

Recently, I have had the good fortune to enjoy a meal at a number of restaurants in Burnaby.

All experiences were excellent, with the establishments and servers doing a very good job of minimizing the risk of transmission of the COVID-19 virus. The thing that bothered me, however, was that only one restaurant took contact information.

I see this as a serious problem.

All restaurants are required by provincial order to take contact information and retain that information for 30 days in the event that contact tracing is necessary.

Contact tracing is a key element in combatting the global pandemic that we face.

It is beyond me to understand why so many restaurants would choose not to comply with this order.

Editor's note: It's unclear in the provincial order if collecting information is a requirement, or if it's just recommended. Read more here.
