Letter: Burnaby's Heather Leung using Conservative logos is a travesty

Heather Leung office
Heather Leung’s campaign office, seen on Sunday, Oct. 6, remains covered in signs bearing the Conservative Party logo, despite the party dropping Leung on Friday. Leung still must appear as a Conservative on the ballot, per Elections Canada regulations.

Editor:

I am a concerned constituent in the Burnaby-North Seymour riding. After some research, it appears that no official group (Elections Canada or any of the political parties, including the Conservative party) have any recourse to stop (candidate Heather) Leung from misrepresenting her association with the Conservative party.

As late as Thursday, Oct. 10, I witnessed individuals putting up more Leung signs, with clear Conservative logos/branding. To have her listed on the ballot as the Conservative representative is a travesty. All this is to say I'm hoping that your well-read publications can bring to the attention of your readership the reality of Ms. Leung's status as an independent and not a Conservative representative in order for voters to be fully informed when they go to the polls.
