The Government of Canada, through Western Economic Diversification Canada, is providing $25,000 in funding to support the Burnaby Board of Trade's new Digital Development Assistance Program to increase the digital presence and capacity of local small businesses.

The Digital Development Assistance Program is a new initiative of the Burnaby Board of Trade that provides small businesses, non-profits and solopreneurs with direct, hands-on support to build, optimize, and enhance their digital activities at no-cost to the business.

Leveraging our local world-class post-secondary institutions, the DDA Program will see skilled students deliver digital supports for businesses in the areas of Social Media Marketing, Digital Advertising, Website Development, Remote Working Tools and E-Commerce.

“In our increasingly digital economy, a transition only accelerated by COVID-19, businesses need to ensure they are communicating and competing in the digital space.  Our small business community needs supports like the Digital Development Assistance Program to help them both weather the current challenges and be prepared to seize future opportunities,” says Paul Holden, Burnaby Board of Trade President & CEO.

The DDA Program is one of the 13 recommendations released earlier this summer by the Burnaby Business Recovery Task Force as a way of building resiliency in our local economy. The Burnaby Business Recovery Task Force, an initiative of the Burnaby Board of Trade, was comprised of 15 members representing local government, business, non-profits, labour, and post-secondary education and developed an action plan to support the stabilization, short-term recovery and longer term rebuilding of Burnaby’s economy and business community.
