Shoppers gobbled up cookies of all sorts at Knox Presbyterian Church on Saturday.

The church’s second annual You Pick Christmas Cookie Sale and Market featured a large selection of handmade Christmas cookies. The sweet treats were sold by weight – $2.50 per one-quarter pound (4 ounces).

“The sale went really well,” Antonia Reynolds, a member of the congregation, said in an email to the Record. “We sold just under $300 worth of cookies, and found ourselves restocking the table quite a bit.”

It’s guesstimated that about 150 pounds of cookies were sold at Saturday’s sale.

“It is my hope to start a new annual tradition in New Westminster with this event,” Reynolds said.

Reynolds said the idea came from an annual fundraiser held at a church in Wisconsin. She’s unaware of similar offerings locally.

The cookie sale is part of the Knox Presbyterian Church’s annual Christmas sale, which also included tables where people could purchase crafts and products for gift giving, as well as photos with Santa.
