An artist’s love of nature and the experience of solitary walks inspired the work in the current exhibition at the Gallery at Queen’s Park.

Background for Thoughts, featuring work by Abhisek Mukherjee, runs until March 29 at the Arts Council of New Westminster’s gallery. An artist talk is set for Sunday, March 15 from 3 to 4 p.m.

“Mukherjee’s work is a medium intended to create a sense of awareness, inviting the viewer to interact with nature,” says a write-up about the exhibition. “We often identify the most significant places in our childhood with the outdoors, and experience the natural environment in a deep and direct manner – not simply as a background for events, but as a factor and a stimulator.”

Want to know more? Stop by the gallery in Centennial Lodge (near the bandshell in Queen’s Park).

It’s open Wednesdays from 1 to 8 p.m., and Thursdays through Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. See www.acnw.ca for information, or call 604-525-3244.
