There’s a new player on the New Westminster nightlife scene.

Rick Bronson’s House of Comedy has moved into the Columbia Theatre downtown. The House of Comedy – which began with The Comic Strip in West Edmonton Mall and has since branched out with clubs in Phoenix, Arizona and at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota – is promising to feature top-tier North American talent, as well as up-and-coming comedic acts.

Among the upcoming headliners is Trevor Wallace, a 25-year-old stand-up comedian, writer, improviser and actor who has earned himself tens of millions of views on social media, mostly from his viral series Life As a Zumiez Employee. He’s also a regular on the YouTube channel All Def Digital, and he has performed at comedy clubs and colleges across the country. He’s set to perform six shows from Jan. 23 to 26.

Also coming up is a special presentation by Jackie Fabulous, with six shows from Jan. 30 to Feb. 2. She captured North American hearts as a semifinalist on the 2019 season of America’s Got Talent – and earned herself fame as the only contestant that Simon Cowell walked up onstage to hug. She performs regularly at top comedy clubs around the continent and has also been featured on the Arsenio Hall Show, Gotham Comedy Live, Last Comic Standing and more.

Also upcoming is a House of Comedy Showcase night on Wednesday, Jan. 22, featuring a showcase of up-and-coming comedians from the Lower Mainland.

The club will also be hosting regular Show Up N’ Go Up nights on Tuesdays, where all comedians (experienced or not) are invited to turn up and take to the microphone. For those nights, admission is free for students with ID and for those in the service industry. Otherwise, it’s $5.

Audience members can enjoy a full dinner and drinks menu.

House of Comedy is at the Columbia Theatre, 530 Columbia St. See bc.houseofcomedy.net for full details and listings and to book tickets.
