The Vancouver Cantata Singers, seen here in a previous Christmas concert at Vancouver’s Holy Rosary Cathedral, are once again bringing their Christmas Reprise concert to New Westminster. Tickets are still available for the Dec. 21 concert at Queens Avenue United Church.

If you haven’t yet managed to find the Christmas spirit, the Vancouver Cantata Singers can help.

The choir is bringing its holiday concert, Christmas Reprise XVII, to Queens Avenue United Church on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 7:30 p.m.

The New West concert is a perfect opportunity for local music lovers to catch the acclaimed choir, whose Christmas Reprise concert is always exceedingly popular and has once again sold out in Vancouver. As of press time, tickets were still available for the New West show, so don’t delay in getting yours.

The concert will feature a cappella music of the season – including Hieronymus Praetorious’s masterpiece Magnificat quinti toni, Morten Lauridsen’s exquisite setting of O nata lux, and the choir’s signature rendition of Franz Biebl’s Ave Maria.

The concert caps an immensely successful year for the choir, which was awarded the grand prize, the prestigious Canada Council for the Arts Healey-Willan Prize, at Canada’s National Competition for Amateur Choirs for the fourth time - more than any other ensemble in the history of the award. The Cantata Singers also earned Best Performance of a Canadian Work and First Place in the Adult Mixed-Voice Category at the national competition.

Tickets for the Queens Avenue concert are $10 for youth under 18, $15 for students (with ID) and $35 for adults. See reprisenewwest.eventbrite.com to buy, or see www.vancouvercantatasingers.com for details.
