The churches of New Westminster invite you to join the World Day of Prayer, 1 p.m., Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 501 Fourth Ave. This year’s theme is Rise! Take Your Mat and Walk, which provides an opportunity to pray, celebrate and give hope to women touched by injustices, especially in Zimbabwe. Everyone is welcome to attend the WDP services, which will be followed by refreshments and fellowship. The World Day of Prayer is a global ecumenical movement which brings Christians of many traditions together to observe a common day of prayer.

Mood Disorders Association of B.C. support group for people experiencing mood disorders, a peer-led safe place to share your story, your struggles ad accomplishments and to listen to other as they share similar concerns. Groups are facilitated by trained volunteers with lived experience of mental health concern. Interested in beekeeping? The New Westminster Beekeepers Association will let you get your hands sticky. If you are interested in promoting beekeeping in a community setting and want to increase pollinators in New Westminster, send us an email. NWBA wants to encourage participants in our program to learn about bees and bee keeping. You can promote bees in New Westminster by learning beekeeping, or simply make a donation and get some honey! You Wear it Well... Just for Grads is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping at-risk students in New Westminster and Surrey  find grad outfits - at no cost - that make them look and feel their best. Volunteer literacy tutors, sought to work with the Douglas College I-CARE program, which helps English-speaking adults learn to read and write. Would you like to help an adult learn to read and write? The I-Care adult literacy program at Douglas College is seeking volunteers now. If you are a Grade 12 graduate with strong reading and writing skills, and you are patient and compassionate, we would like to talk to you. Those accepted will receive tutor training (five Saturdays in January and February). Once training is completed, the tutor is available to be matched with an adult learner.
