An electric vehicle company is celebrating as a New Westminster business hits a major milestone in one of the company’s vehicles.

Leona Green, who co-owns Green’s & Bean Deli with her son, Matt, marked 20,000 kilometres, recently, in Electra Meccanica’s single-passenger model Solo.

Green was the Electra Meccanica’s first customer, and says the vehicle, which is her primary delivery vehicle, “has become such an important part of my life.”

“The low operating cost of my Solo has allowed me to increase my savings as I continue scale my business. I drive it daily and have been thrilled with its reliability, minimal environmental impact, and the fact that it makes my commute fun,” Green said in a statement.

Electra Meccanica CEO Jerry Kroll said in a statement that the 20,000-km mark is an important milestone for the company, which “validates Electra Meccanica’s previous testing of the Solo being a dependable EV.”

Electra Meccanica, based out of Vancouver, has received 23,000 preorders for the Solo EV, Kroll said, adding that the low post-purchase cost of electric vehicles like the Solo has meant that business operators like Green are able to invest elsewhere in their business.
