Liaison officer Lt.-Col B.A. (Brent) Purcell (left) came to Sechelt on Feb. 11 to present a citation to Dr. Joerg Jaschinski (centre, with clinic manager Paige Davies) and the Cowrie Medical Clinic for allowing Capt. Paul Dhillon (right) to leave the practice for five months last summer to deploy on Operation LASER, the Canadian Armed Forces response to COVID-19. “This support from Dr. Jaschinski, and other employers across Canada, allowed the CAF to activate and deploy more Reservists than has been seen since the Second World War,” the citation said. “Capt. Dhillon was able to participate in the medical supervision of distributed training restarting in the persistent COVID-19 environment across 39 Canadian Brigade Group, which allowed vital training for soldiers to continue.”
