Career Link has been helping community members find employment in Powell River—and the surrounding areas—since 1984. Since the foundation of the organization 35 years ago, employment needs in Powell River have evolved, and the Career Link services have grown to meet these needs.

Career Link offers free services that can assist job seekers to gain new skills to get back to work, to obtain valuable industry certificates, to learn about the local labour market, to develop their resumes and cover letters, and much more.

“We can help people in so many different ways,” said Brodie D’Angio, manager at Career Link, “but one of the best ways, apart from all the programs and other forms of assistance we have, is knowing that someone here is in your corner.

“I feel that people often come in for help with the technical things, such as how to write a resume or cover letter, or how to do a job search,” he added, “but what also ends up being really valuable for a job seeker is having someone helping to support and motivate them. Having once been a Career Link client I can attest to this.”

Eligibility guidelines through WorkBC have recently expanded allowing more people than ever to qualify for services at Career Link. They encourage you to drop-in or call and talk to them about your employment goals no matter what your situation is since they are eager to help in any way they can.

“We’ve had people come in and benefit from training programs and they’ve gone from working at a minimum wage job to something that can better support their family,” D’Angio said. “Others are new to the community and don’t necessarily know where their skills fit in. We can help them with that.”
