Powell River Kings completed another comeback at Hap Parker Arena on Friday, September 13, this time against the visiting Chilliwack Chiefs. The home team scored four times in the second period to take the lead after trailing 2-1.

Levi Glasman tied the score at two, then 38-seconds later, Nic Porchetta gave the Kings a 3-2 lead, crashing the net and potting home a rebound for his first of two goals in the game.

“We exploded in the second period,” said Kings assistant coach Brock Sawyer. “It was a good bounce-back period, and we put the pedal down in the last 12 minutes. I thought we sat back and felt out the competition in the first period, and it kind of went both ways.”

The line of Nolan Krogfoss, Jacob Paler-Chow and Porchetta combined for five points.

“That line came out with a ton of energy after Levi [Glasman] scored to make it 2-2; they were relentless, hounding pucks and they made them play defence, and were rewarded,” said Sawyer. “That whole line was phenomenal for us. Anytime your younger guys can do that, and have an impact in the game, it lifts the team.”

Porchetta and Glasman each scored twice, while Reilly Moran added his second goal of the season.

“I was pretty pumped up,” said Porchetta about his first goal. “[Jacob] Paler-Chow got it to [Dylan] Finlay and it was a nice one-timer on net. I found it and jammed it right through the five-hole.”

Matteo Paler-Chow made 23-saves, including 11 in the third period to earn his second win of the season.

Kings are back in action on Sunday, September 15, when they host Cowichan Valley Capitals. Game time is 2 pm.
