Celebrated pianist Kevin Kenner.

The outstanding pianist Kevin Kenner makes his Coast Recital Society debut this Saturday afternoon, Nov. 23, at 2:30 p.m. at the Raven’s Cry Theatre, with a pre-concert chat with CRS president John Storer at 1:30 p.m.

The music critic of London’s Financial Times praises Kenner as a “player of grace, subtle variety and strength, with a mature grasp of dramatic structure and proportion.” The Washington Post described him as “an artist whose intellect, imagination and pianism speak powerfully and eloquently.”

Kenner won the top prize at the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw (together with the Peoples’ Prize and prize for the best Polonaise), and the bronze medal at the Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow (together with the prize for best performance of a Russian work).

An artist at the height of his maturity and power, Kenner’s playing inevitably receives exceptional critical notices for its stylishness and depth.

His CD featuring piano works by Ignaz Paderewski received rave reviews in Gramophone magazine (2019): “thrilling, clarity, élan and ravishing playing.”

In October 2018, Gramophone magazine named the CD one of its recordings of the month, “a piano disc to treasure.”

His performances of Chopin have also garnered enthusiastic responses from audience members, critics, and musicians.

Kenner’s program for the Coast Recital Society will feature works by Haydn, Schumann, Chopin and Paderewski.

Concert sponsors are Maribel’s Fine Fashions and Crowe Mackay LLP (formerly TCG Chartered Accountants).
