Power to Old Fort nearly restored

BC Hydro says it expects to have power restored to Old Fort Monday evening.

Power to the community was lost Oct. 6 after a landslide damaged the power line supplying the community, and prompted an evacuation order.

BC Hydro was granted access to the area last week, and crews have been working "around the clock" to install 45 new power poles and restring 3,300 metres of power line, BC Hydro said in an update.

Work is nearly complete and power is expected to be restored Monday evening, BC Hydro said.

BC Hydro has applied to the BC Utilities Commission for billing relief for Old Fort customers. If approved, credits will be applied to customers’ accounts.
