Outlook 'favourable' for some Old Fort residents

Some Old Fort residents may soon be allowed to return home.

In an update Friday afternoon, the Peace River Regional District says the outlook is favourable, once road standards are met.

The regional district says it’s working with the ministry of transportation and infrastructure to ensure 24/7 operation of a semi-permanent road back into the community that can support residential traffic, emergency vehicles, school buses, and other service vehicles.

Westrek Geotechnical Services expects to deliver a report on its findings about the landslide next week. The report will be sent for peer and legal review before being returned to the regional district board for consideration.
