Landslide closes Old Fort Road

Officials are assessing damages and a plan for repairs after a landslide damaged and closed the Old Fort Road outside Fort St. John on Sunday.

The road is closed past the entrance to Site C. The landslide is still active and the public is urged to stay clear of the area.

Residents in the Old Fort neighbourhood won't be able to get to or from their homes until further notice.

Officials with the ministry of transportation and infrastructure weren't immediately available for comment.

In the event of an emergency, contact the RCMP at 9-1-1, or the detachment at 250-787-8100. For further information, contact YRB North Peace at 1-888-883-6688.
