Singer/songwriter Oliver Swain of Victoria was the first performer to entertain in the gazebo at The Rotary Garden at The ARC Community Event Centre.

His Corona Conscious Concert took place this afternoon, July 18, before an appreciative audience which had not heard live music in months.

A vocalist and instrumentalist, Swain played several of his own songs and “A Thousand Deep Kisses” by Leonard Cohen, accompanying himself on the bass, banjo and guitar.

He also acknowledged his friend Dan Vincent of Powell River who made the guitar.

Swain has performed in Powell River before at Cranberry Hall and Max Cameron Theatre, and was impressed with the outdoor venue for this concert.

Following his Saturday gig, Swain was heading to Gibson’s for a Sunday event.

He said he would be pleased to come back later this summer for a return engagement in the garden.

The event was held with fewer than 50 spectators, per public health officer guidelines.
