BC Ferries is advising that all MV Island Discovery sailings are cancelled all until further notice due to a mechanical difficulty.

According to a media release, the ship is experiencing a problem with the cooling system for the main switchboard.

The release stated that water taxi service will be available for foot passengers from the public dock located adjacent to the Westview Terminal, and at Van Anda on Texada Island.

BC Ferries stated that it appreciates travellers’ patience and apologizes for any inconvenience people may experience as a result of these cancellations. The company is working to resolve the issue and will keep travellers informed as soon as more information becomes available, according to the release.

“Our goal is to inform our customers as early as possible of any changes to our scheduled sailings,” the release stated. “We recommend that for the most up-to-date sailing and departure information, our customers also follow @BCFerries on Twitter, visit the current conditions webpage at bcferries.com, or call toll free and 1.888.223.3779.
