On March 27 at approximately 10:07 am, Powell River RCMP responded to a report of a collision in the 10,000 block of Highway 101, south of the city.
Once on scene, police found a small car had collided with a tractor trailer, causing the driver of the car to be pinned inside. Malaspina Fire Department was already on scene extracting the driver from the car, but the driver died on scene as a result of injuries sustained during the collision.
This incident is still under investigation, according to a media release from Powell River RCMP on April 1. Police do not believe that alcohol was a factor in this collision.
