Stage 2 water restrictions set to start July 10

All Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) water users south of Pender Harbour will face Stage 2 water restrictions starting July 10.

Lawn watering is not permitted at Stage 2 and watering permits to establish new seed or sod lawns will not be issued. Existing permits remain valid at Stage 2.

Stage 2 was called on June 7 last year, one month earlier than this year.

Regulations also apply to the following.

Trees, shrubs or flowers:

• Sprinklers or soaker hoses can be used two days per week on Thursday and Sunday for even-numbered addresses from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and on Wednesday and Saturday for odd-numbered addresses from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.  • Hand-held hoses with spray trigger nozzles, hand-held containers or micro/drip-irrigation can be used anytime.

Food producing plants and trees:

• Sprinklers or soaker hoses can be used two days per week on Thursday and Sunday for even-numbered addresses from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday and Saturday for odd-numbered addresses from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.  • Hand-held hoses with spray trigger nozzles, hand-held containers or micro/drip-irrigation can be used any time.

Commercial food producing farms:

• Commercial food producing farms paying a metered rate for water are exempt from Stage 2 regulations.

Washing vehicles or boats is permitted, as is filling swimming pools, spas, garden ponds and fountains. Sidewalks and driveways, windows and exterior building surfaces can also be washed, but only for preparing surfaces for painting or paving, or for health and safety reasons.
