A Sechelt resident was airlifted to hospital Sunday night following a single-vehicle accident in Pender Harbour.
She was discovered by chance when an RCMP officer was driving north on Highway 101 to attend an unrelated call, Sunshine Coast RCMP Staff Sgt. Poppy Hallam told Coast Reporter.
About half a kilometre past Dan Bosch Park, the officer noticed a car in the southbound ditch, rolled on its side. Trapped inside was the woman, in her fifties.
The officer called in the accident at approximately 9:50 p.m. and first responders from the Egmont and District Volunteer Fire Department and Pender Harbour Fire Department as well as Emergency Health Services ambulance arrived on scene to help extricate the woman from the vehicle.
She suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries to her legs and right arm and was airlifted by helicopter to Vancouver General Hospital where she remained in stable condition.
No other vehicles appeared to be involved in the crash. The RCMP are still investigating the cause.
