Sunshine Coast RCMP say a man was sent to hospital for a psychiatric assessment and will likely be facing charges after an incident Sunday morning in Sechelt.

Police said they were called just before 9 a.m. Nov. 22 after a man, reportedly completely naked, crashed a truck into a tree on Reeves Road and ran off.

The truck, a black 1998 Dodge, turned out to have been stolen from Davis Bay and had been seen driving erratically before the crash in West Sechelt.
RCMP said it smashed through a gate at a property in Selma Park, before the suspect drove it to Reeves Road.

RCMP dog Marlow and handler, Const. Kyle Hrynyk, were brought in to track the suspect and Marlow followed the trail to a boat on a nearby property where the man was arrested without incident.

RCMP said Hrynyk and 19-month-old Marlow had recently returned from Innisfail, Alta., after graduating from the Police Dog Service Training Centre.
