Rosenlund salvages draw for WolfPack men; TRU's women fall to UBC

Mikkel Rosenlund’s 90th-minute header highlighted the day on the pitch for the TRU WolfPack, whose men’s and women’s soccer teams played host to the UBC Thunderbirds on Saturday at Hillside Stadium.

The 6-foot-3 rookie defender from Denmark nodded home a cross from Marco Favaro to secure a 1-1 tie with the T-Birds, the three-time defending Canada West champions.

Sebastian Dzikowski tallied for UBC in the 20th minute.

TRU and UBC, which played to a 1-1 draw on Friday at Hillside Stadium, are both 0-0-2 after the first weekend of Canada West play in nearly two years.

Meanwhile, the Thunderbirds blanked the WolfPack 3-0 in women’s action on Saturday to complete a weekend sweep.

Danielle Steer, who scored twice in a 2-0 triumph over the Pack on Friday, added two more goals on Saturday. Katalin Tolnai also scored for the visitors.

Both TRU teams will travel to Kelowna next weekend to square off against the UBC OKanagan Heat.
