COVID-19 has again played havoc with the schedules of the Western Hockey League and Kamloops Blazers.
Due to ongoing pandemic-related gathering restrictions, the Blazers have cancelled two scheduled home pre-season games next week.
The contests on Sept. 15 against Victoria and on Sept. 17 against Prince George have been scrubbed, while an exhibition game in Prince George on Sept. 15 has been added to the slate.
As a result of the changes, the Blazers’ pre-season schedule is now as follows:
• Wednesday, Sept. 15: at Prince George;
• Saturday, Sept. 18: at Prince George;
• Wednesday, Sept. 22: at Vancouver;
• Friday, Sept. 24: vs. Kelowna;
• Saturday, Sept. 25: at Kelowna.
In addition to changes to the home club’s pre-season schedule, the Western Hockey League has tweaked the overall schedule.
Due to ongoing border restrictions preventing non-essential bus travel from Canada to the U.S., clubs in the U.S. Division will compete exclusively against U.S. Division opponents, while clubs in the B.C. Division will compete exclusively against B.C. Division opponents during the month of October.
If border rules change by the end of October, inter-division play will commence in November, with the Portland Winterhawks scheduled to visit Kamloops on Wednesday, Nov. 3.
