Success. It’s what Angie Vazquez always strives for. Whether it’s being part of the Engel & Völkers real estate team in Squamish, a full-time mom to her two children, or a mentor for local high schoolers, Vazquez aims high.

“That’s what I look for in everything I do,” she said. “If it’s working with my clients who are experiencing a milestone moment in their lives by selling or buying a home, helping my kids see what hard work can accomplish, or sharing my knowledge with a young student, I go out there and try to do my best.”

It’s been that way for Vazquez for as long as she can remember, growing up in her native Mexico with a love of math that led her to earn a bachelor degree in engineering. An entrepreneur at heart, she also ran a furniture business while working with developers - an experience that earned her a role hosting a TV program about real estate.

“I love the adrenalin associated with being part of a TV show,” Vazquez said. “It’s the same working in real estate when you get deals and multiple offers.”

But if you ask her what her main job is, she doesn’t hesitate to tell you that it’s being a mom to an 11 and 16-year old daughter and son.

“I work my schedule around my kids. That’s something people respect,” she said. “I try to strike a good balance in life, but know the importance of being a role model and a source of inspiration for my children.”

That also led the way for her to be a mentor. “While I love my job and achieving successes for my clients, life is not just about real estate,” she said. “It’s also about serving your community and doing things for other people.

“It’s gratifying to be able to share what I know with someone else who is learning.”

She’s also found the mentor role is a two-way street. “Honestly, we are supposed to be helping the young people,” she said. “But the students inspire me to raise the bar higher, up to the next level. And that makes me really step things up.

“It’s a win-win for everyone.”
