It was July 12, 1997 when the RCMP in Kitimat, BC began looking for Kevin Louise Vermette as the suspect in the triple murder and the attempted murder of one victim who survived the incident.
Kevin Vermette born in 1954, fled on foot into the wilderness after the fatal shooting that took the lives of Mark Teves 20, David Nunes 21, and Mike Mauro 20. Don Oliveira who was 20 years old at the time of the incident was the survivor who suffered serious injuries.
The shooting took place located at the Hirsch-Creek Park just minutes from Kitimat, BC on Highway 37.
The verbal dispute between Kevin Vermette and the young men stemmed from a conflict over music the young men were playing were days previous all were utilizing the community weight gym. It was by a chance encounter in the park at a later time where the incident escalated to murder.
Charges have been laid and a Canada-wide warrant was issued for Kevin Louise Vermette for the murder and attempted murder.
Kevin Louise Vermette is 5’9, 161 lbs, brown hair, blue eyes.

There is a $25,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
