Tamara Mackenzie in Ms. Health and Fitness competition

A Mile Zero mother finds herself in the midst of a battle to be named Ms. Health and Fitness.

"Right now I am currently battling the ladies in just my group, but there is a ton of groups in this competition," she says.
"There will be two more rounds that I need to advance through to head to the semi finals which will start on August 5," she says.

The title comes with $20,000. Mackenzie has three distinct directions for the funds to go.

"I would not be where I am at today without the love and support from my family and friends, especially my good friend and coach. This year his family found out some heartbreaking news that no family should ever have to hear. So I will be donating half of the winnings to his family to help out with any expenses that are needed throughout this process. And with the other half I would take my daughter to Disneyland," she says.
"I will be donating half the winnings to the Makuch family. Kalon was diagnosed with PPTID, Pineal Parenchymal Tumour of Intermediate Differentiation."

In 2012 she was diagnosed with Endometriosis.
"That is when lifting weights became a passion of mine. Fast forward a few years later, my daughter Mya was born. Now I get to lead by example, workout with my mini & show her that anything is possible. It has given me awareness on how good it feels to take care of our bodies. We eat better, sleep better, have more energy, and grow stronger."
