BC Hydro says it is waiting for water levels to rise before it can retrieve a barge stranded on the Peace River near Bear Flat.
The barge, being used for log boom work for Site C, ran aground on a gravel bar Friday, June 19. Witnesses say the crew was picked up later that night, and that a second attempt to rescue the boat Monday evening failed.
BC Hydro says the vessel had been mooring and working from the Halfway River, and was headed back to that site when it got stranded.
"Nobody was hurt and no rescue was required," said BC Hydro spokesman Dave Conway on Tuesday.
"The barge will be recovered when the river level is high enough to float it off."
