PRRD not invited to caribou consultation

The PRRD are mad as hell and they aren’t going to take it anymore.

They’ve written a letter to Premier John Horgan with the hopes he can be woken and lit to include the PRRD in on caribou conservation issues.

“(We) write to you to express extreme disappointment that the board did not receive an invitation to participate in the proposed leaders’ table,” says the PRRD about their lack of participation in drafting of an intergovernmental agreement for caribou conservation.

“The PRRD does not feel that the situation or information flow have noticeable improved since your April 2019 visit.”

The PRRD has requested - dignity of a response - to questions about the plan, further PRRD invitation to consultations and planning, and if even a terms of reference has been drafted on the matter.

District of Chetwynd mayor Allen Courtoreille notes Chetwynd received an invite in late September. Courtoreille declined to attend the meeting, unless the PRRD was invited as well.

“The District is disappointed that the PRRD board chair or vice were not invited.”

“With that in mind, (we) respectfully decline your invitation to attend, unless the PRRD are also invited to participate.”
