A pair of late goals by Levi Glasman lifted Powell River Kings to a 4-3 win over Cowichan Valley Capitals in Duncan on Friday, November 1.

Jacob Slipec set up the tying and winning goals, the ninth and 10th of the season for Glasman, at 18:09 and 19:50 of the third period.

After Dawson McKay opened the scoring for Powell River in the first period, Cowichan scored three straight goals for a 3-1 lead before Reilly Moran cut the lead to one with 1:28 remaining in the middle frame.

Kings’ goaltender Derek Krall turned aside 30 of the 33 shots he faced to earn third star honours behind Glasman (second) and Capitals’ forward Primo Self (first), who scored once and added an assist. Kings also recorded 33 shots during the game.

Michael Abgrall assisted on Moran’s ninth of the season. Davis Pennington and Ethan Schmunk also collected assists for the Kings on the night.

Attendance at Cowichan Community Centre was 764.

Powell River returns to action tonight in Alberni Valley. The Bulldogs are third in BC Hockey League Island Division Standings, three points ahead of the Kings. Game time at Weyerhaeuser Arena is 7 pm.

Kings play their third road game in three days at Frank Crane Arena against the Clippers in Nanaimo on Sunday, November 3. Nanaimo leads the Island Division with 26 points, eight ahead of the fourth place Kings. Game time is 2 pm.

Powell River continued to revamp its goaltending position this week, announcing the acquisition of Thomas Wardle, formerly of the Coquitlam Express. Wardle joins Krall, who came to the Kings via trade with Penticton Vees one week earlier.
