Many Powell River area residents awoke to the sound of thunder on Friday, July 31.
The accompanying lightning was on display as well, including this strike over Townsite.
According to Environment Canada, chances of continuing intermittent rain will remain in effect until early afternoon, followed by sunny and cloudy periods in the late afternoon and clear skies this evening.
