Powell River Peak letter

It is fantastic that qathet Regional District [“qathet Regional District receives climate change recognition,” September 19] and City of Powell River [“City of Powell River receives recognition for carbon neutrality,” September 24] are taking such progressive and effective steps to tackle the local problems associated with climate change.

Their actions represent the valuable leadership needed at this critical time on this critical issue.

One wonders who is following? It is a well known fact in our local climate action cohort that the corporate emissions of the city represent approximately two per cent of total community emissions.

What are individuals, families and businesses actually doing to reduce their carbon footprints that represent 98 per cent of the problem? We need to find out and quantify it to get an accurate idea of how Powell River is doing as a whole community.

Residents can email climateactionpr@gmail.com to report any and all measures they are taking to reduce their carbon footprint.
