Powell River letter

In a recent Peak article, City of Powell River councillor CaroleAnn Leishman said: “It was discouraging that federal and provincial governments are approving plans that still use the herbicide glyphosate and other pretty terrible chemicals [“Regional district reacts to herbicide/pesticide application,” June 4].

Apparently, Leishman doesn’t want to see any spraying of glyphosate. She shares the opinions of many, but science is not on their side. Glyphosate is relatively harmless. Medically speaking, sugar is a far more harmful substance than glyphosate will ever be.

Of much more concern and danger is marijuana. The Canadian Medical Association, American Medical Association and Australian Medical Association all opposed the legalization and general usage of marijuana. So now we have the disapproval of a safe herbicide and the approval of a harmful drug.

Think about that.
