Tla’amin Nation is reporting no new COVID-19 positive cases as of September 25.

Total cases since September 7 remain at 36, according to a media release from the nation.

The release stated that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the ability of friends and family to come together in person and grieve in traditional ways. Tla’amin legislature has enacted mandatory safety protocols for wakes, funerals, burials and cremation services in order to proceed with utmost safety. Full protocols are available at tlaaminnation.com/funeral-protocols.

“Our nation continues to show its strength and resiliency as we continue to face this pandemic,” stated hegus Clint Williams. “We continue to rely on our friends, family and neighbours to work together and make difficult sacrifices for the greater good of our community. We understand the desire to mourn in our traditional ways in order to heal the wounds in our hearts and we hope, in time, we will be able to do so together again soon.”

Tla’amin members continue to recover and receive clearance letters from Vancouver Coastal Health, according to the release, and Tla’amin Health has reached out to provincial health authorities to confirm recovered case totals.

The release stated that emergency protective measures protect the Tla’amin community. Frontline workers and staff continue to assist in delivering groceries and supplies to self-isolating residents.
