qathet Regional District issues grants

Seven organizations selected in first intake

qathet Regional District has approved its first intake of financial assistance for 2020, amounting to $86,310.

The regional board sanctioned the financial assistance at its July 30 board meeting.

The following grants have been given:

$50,000 for Lift Community Services of qathet Society

$750 to the Powell River and District Christmas Cheer Committee

$5,000 to Powell River and District United Way for the ORCA Bus

$750 to Powell River Community Radio Society

$16,945 to the Powell River Outdoor Recreation User Group Trails Society

$865 to the Texada Library

$12,000 to Texada Arts, Culture and Tourism Society

The board denied a $20,000 request from Powell River Gymnastics Society, and a $9,240 request from Van Anda Volunteer Firefighters Association, and postponed a $7,500 request for financial assistance for Myrtle Point Golf Club and a $650 request from Royal Canadian Legion Branch 232.
