Powell River Villa returns to the pitch at Timberlane Park for the soccer club’s 2019/2020 season opener on Saturday, September 14.

Villa earned promotion to Vancouver Island Soccer League’s Division 1 with a second place finish in Division 2 last season. The club has not competed in the league’s top tier in more than a decade.

Juan de Fuca All Flows, who also moved up to Division 1 for this season, provide the opposition. The teams split a pair of regular season meetings in 2018/2019, each shutting out the opposition while enjoying home field advantage. In a rubber match, Villa defeated All Flows 3-0 in a Jackson Cup round-of-16 game played at Timberlane last March.

Kickoff on Saturday is scheduled for 1:30 pm. Fans will stay dry regardless of weather conditions, thanks to new covered stands installed at the park over the summer.
