Storm bring A-game against United

U15 Boys Soccer

The 2019 soccer season is well underway and the Coastal Storm FC U15 boys are now playing in the top Gold 1-A Division in the Lower Mainland this year. They have moved up a division, and to one that takes no prisoners or anything less than the best from a team.

Last weekend, on an extraordinary Saturday under blue skies at Shirley Macey’s beautiful lush soccer pitch on the outskirts of Gibsons, the Storm were host to the Port Moody United in front of a sell-out crowd. The Storm were looking to recover from a tough loss last week by one late goal and dig even deeper to set the tone for this new higher division. The United were not giving up any opportunities at all, a very skilled group indeed, and every chance and all the momentum the Storm had was earned through diligent teamwork and relentless cooperation for the entire game. The early first goal going to the United was clearly all the motivation needed by the Storm, because from then on it was an all-out technical bonanza of skills and wicked passing from the Storm leading to a fantastic header to tie the game up at the half.

The second half saw the Storm, a fully committed group of bandits, making plays only seen at the highest level of the sport. Their style of play was wearing down the United and they all collectively stepped-up their game and miraculously gave it everything they had and then some for the entire half. The fans were literally speechless as this full-tilt group assault occurred right in front of their eyes. People arriving for other games were mesmerized into watching this and the crowd grew to record levels.

Luckily for the Storm they have a keeper named Duncan Service, a truly talented magician who was able to prevent the United time and again from netting anything past his golden hands, awesome to see. The Storm finally put together a sequence of pure brilliance from end to end that led to a give and go goal that sealed the deal 2-1 and put the United back on the ferry home having learned a few things about true grit and teamwork.

This will be a year for the Coastal Storm FC U15 boys to bring their A-game every single time they step on the pitch. This division demands the best of you and your teammates every minute of every game all year long. One thing for sure after this last game though, with the crowd trying to figure out what they had just witnessed and the coaches and players feeling ready for any team the league throws at them, this will be the team that will scare the city teams and make us all proud for sure.
