Toastmasters can nurture your leadership skills

While speech giving is a fundamental step in the journey, it is only the tip of the iceberg of how you can grow, learn, and fundamentally change your life as you build a better you. As Margaret Page says, “the journey isn’t easy but it is worthwhile.

While speech giving is a fundamental step in the journey, it is only the tip of the iceberg of how you can grow, learn, and fundamentally change your life as you build a better you. As Margaret Page says, “the journey isn’t easy but it is worthwhile.”

Step by step, through encouragement and mentoring from other Toastmaster members, Margaret was nurtured, encouraged and shown what was possible. Toastmasters “took her by the hand” and escorted her to her own excellence. Held up by other team members, Margaret rose through the leadership roles within the Toastmasters Club.

Getting into Toastmasters leadership provides lifetime opportunities for continued growth, enriched educational experiences and personal achievements. One of the greatest gifts she received from being in Toastmasters was that she was “forced to learn how to truly build relationships. Learning to work as a team and not just on a team.”

Toastmasters leadership roles allows a different kind of growth opportunity for those who want to expand their skillset. As a business owner from the age of 21, Margaret was used to telling people what to do. Toastmasters allowed her to become a better leader through improving communication skills along with expanding her business skills: collaboration, deep listening, cultural nuances, situational leadership, awareness, flexibility, and the ability to work as a group.

Now Margaret is moving into the highest role in Toastmasters – International President Elect – and knows this is a “lifetime opportunity to learn on a whole different level.” She feels honoured and blessed to be able to serve in this capacity. With friends and mentors all over the world, Margaret has discovered greater meaning, purpose, and life-fulfilling engagement with people that she would have never met without Toastmasters.

Toastmasters leadership helps create a growing circle of influence. No hierarchy just reach, influence and impact.

If you are looking to create more impact and expand your capabilities to attract success, give Toastmasters a try. As Margaret says, “Toastmasters – it works!”
