Time running out for NDP

Letters

Editor:

Time is running out for the NDP and the health minister to step in and get the brass at Vancouver Coastal Health to get on track and abandon their plans to shut down two public senior facilities and build a new for-profit facility. It has now been more than three-and-a-half years since Coastal Health, with absolutely no consultation with the people in Sechelt, or their elected representatives, brought their ill-conceived plan to the Coast.

In spite of the latest comprehensive report by Seniors Advocate Isabel Mackenzie, again pointing out the poor performance of for-profit facilities versus non-profit facilities, Coastal Health carries on, ignoring the facts. Those facts and statistics should settle the issue once and for all.

It’s time for Health Minister Adrian Dix and our local MLA, Nicholas Simons, to step in and set Coastal Health on the right track.
