Seniors weren’t ‘managed’

Letters

Editor:

As one of the 60-odd residents attending the SCRD-led wastewater meeting at Coopers Green Hall that Brian Hofler comments on in his Jan. 17 letter (“Wastewater solution”), I take umbrage at his suggestion that the SCRD staff present “should be congratulated for managing a group of seniors who definitely have ‘skin in the game.’”

Mr. Hofler’s contention that we seniors were “managed” is insulting, condescending, and wildly inaccurate. The SCRD staff were professional and led an informative and lively meeting. Questions – and there were many – were considered and answered seriously, courteously, and in depth. I didn’t feel “managed” and I’d be surprised if any of my fellow “skin-in-the-game seniors” did, either.

Those who did ask questions were knowledgeable, on point, and contributed greatly to the understanding of the at times arcane matters under discussion.
