Please wear a mask

Letters

Editor:

I am over 80 and am aware I may not be around for many more years. But unless we take care now, COVID-19 will be!

I have enjoyed a wonderful life with family and friends, and would like this for you as well. So I wear a mask!

I know they are hot, unattractive, and “not cool.” I have heard all the reasons for not wearing one. However, is it not better to wear this tiny piece of cloth while out in stores and in public places, than have to go through the misery of you or those close to you being ill? Maybe very ill? Some will be unable to breathe without a breathing machine, and in some cases will die while still young, without loved ones by their side – tragic and in many cases preventable.

All you have to do is forget your pride and your “rights” and help others around you to live their lives to the fullest by wearing a small facial mask.

Fall will be upon us in a few weeks and colds and coughs will likely increase the risk of spreading the virus. So take care of your family, your friends and your neighbours, and please, please, when out and about, wear a mask! Such a little thing to do for a huge benefit for us all.
